Match Report
RGS The Grange Worcester Girls-U11B vs  Cheltenham College Preparatory School
On: Wednesday, 09 May 2018
Venue: at Home

The girls excitedly approached their first match of the season, taking into the match Miss Willis' motto of 'keep calm and play rounders'. The girls lost the toss and so batted first. Ana bravely stepped up to bat first, scoring a rounder on her first ball which was wonderful to see. The girls batted well, but Cheltenham's fielding was tight and with four balls to go only Molly and Keira remained. However, the girls remained calm and managed to stay in, scoring 1/2 a rounder in the process.

It was then the turn of our girls to field. It took a little time to settle into their positions, but with some strong bowling and good communication the team managed to keep Cheltenham at bay and at the end of the first innings the score was 6-6.

During the second innings our girls batted well, but Cheltenham had stepped up their game and we ended having scored 5 good rounders. As we went into field, the girls knew they had a tough job ahead of them and there was some fabulous fielding demonstrated, in particular from Liz with thoughtful, accurate passes preventing Cheltenham from scoring.

Unfortunately, during the last few balls Cheltenham produced some really big hits from which they scored several rounders. This meant they managed to edge ahead to win by 3 rounders.

However, it had been a good afternoon of rounders and Mrs Hobson was very proud of the way the whole team played. Keep up the super effort, girls!
